Our Structural Timber Range

DTM Timber supplies a range of Australian hardwood structural timber products prepared for residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure applications. Products are available in both seasoned and unseasoned conditions depending on structural requirements, application needs and intended finish.

Structural timber is available in nominated F-grades including F14, F17 and F27, with products supplied for both general structural use and exposed structural appearance applications.

All products are supplied treated using recognised preservative systems including CCA and TAN-E for durability and external service conditions.

Unseasoned Structural Timber (F14 / F17)

Unseasoned structural hardwood is supplied in the green state for structural applications where drying in service is accommodated through design and installation practices. It is commonly selected for applications requiring larger section sizes, structural durability and reliable load-bearing performance under demanding service conditions.

DTM Timber supplies unseasoned hardwood structural timber in nominated structural grades including F14 and F17, depending on species, section size and application requirements. These grades are commonly specified for structural framing, support members and outdoor applications where strength and durability are more important than finished appearance.

Unseasoned structural hardwood is regularly used in subfloor construction, deck framing, posts, bearers, joists and civil applications where timber is exposed to varying environmental conditions and long-term structural performance is required.

Products are treated to support durability in external and structural service conditions.

Common Applications
Key Features

Allowance should be made for natural shrinkage and movement as the timber dries in service. Correct detailing, fixing and ventilation practices are important for long-term performance.

Seasoned Structural Timber (F27)

Seasoned structural hardwood is supplied with reduced moisture content to improve stability in service, minimise movement and provide a more consistent finished product. DTM Timber supplies seasoned structural timber in F27 grade for demanding structural applications requiring higher engineering performance.

F27 structural hardwood is commonly selected where increased strength, stiffness and span capability are important, particularly in structural framing, floor systems and support applications. These products are typically used where structural performance is the primary requirement and the timber may be enclosed, lined or otherwise not intended as a finished visual feature.

Compared with lower structural grades, F27 hardwood provides higher engineering performance for applications requiring greater load capacity and improved structural efficiency. Seasoning also assists in reducing shrinkage, movement and moisture-related distortion after installation.

Treatment is applied where required to support durability, service life and external exposure.

Common Applications
Key Features

Seasoned structural timber is primarily selected for structural performance rather than finished appearance.

Natural marks and surface variation typical of structural hardwood products may still be present.

Structural Appearance
Seasoned Structural Appearance Timber

Seasoned structural appearance hardwood is supplied for applications where both structural capability and finished presentation are important. Products are seasoned to improve stability in service and reduce movement while maintaining structural performance for exposed applications.

Unlike standard structural timber selected primarily for engineering performance, structural appearance timber is prepared with greater consideration given to visible surface quality, presentation and overall finished appearance. These products are commonly used where the timber remains exposed after installation and forms part of the finished architectural result.

Structural appearance hardwood is commonly selected for exposed beams, pergolas, verandahs, pavilions, feature posts and architectural outdoor structures where natural hardwood appearance and structural performance are both important design considerations.

Treatment supports exposed external use while maintaining the intended finished appearance.

Common Applications
Key Features

Natural timber variation remains a feature of Australian hardwood products and should be expected as part of the finished appearance.
